Mrs. Billye Hendrix, age 86, died at her home in West Memphis, Wednesday, July 3, 2019, after a short illness. Born March 8, 1933, she was the daughter of Hubbert and Mildred Clara May Mitchell. She worked at General Industries in Forrest City until retirement and then worked at the Lee County Health Department. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Marianna.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hubbert and Mildred Clara May Mitchell, husband James "Hop" Hendrix in 2016, a daughter Debbie Todd in 2006, one sister Louise Montague, and two brothers Jimmy MItchell and Larry Kent Mitchell.
Survivors include one son Dwayne Hendrix and his wife Ellen of Weiner, Arkansas; four daughters: Shelia Oxner (Mark Apgar) of Hughes, AR, Judy McMahan of Forrest City, Pamela Pouncey and her husband Bert of Proctor and Donita Lovell and her husband Walter "Buckett" of West Memphis; four sisters Glenda McMahan of Texas, Beulah Griffin of Senatobia, MS, Millie Hill of Olive Branch, MS, and Sharon Sowell and her husband Larry of Shiloh, TN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hendrix will be Friday morning, July 5, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Morgan Chapel with Mr. Kirk Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to Services at 9:00 AM at Morgan Chapel.
