Christopher Michael Mangrum

Christopher Michael Mangrum, born February 27, 1981, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on July 28, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. Christopher was the son of Michael and Laurel Mangrum. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael, and survived by his mother, Laurel, daughters Michaela and Naomi, and son Christopher, who all live in Texas.

As a University of Texas Longhorn fan, Chris especially enjoyed college football and basketball. Every March, he looked forward to the excitement of March Madness, cheering on his favorite teams and enjoying the friendly competition that came with the tournament. He loved it when the Longhorns played the Pokes because he enjoyed the smack talk with his dad. He was also an avid Mavericks fan, for the same reason, most around him loved the Spurs. Chris was quick-witted and loved how sports brought the people he cared about the most together. Game days were really special with Chris around. Chris also had a strong love for shoes and took pride in keeping them clean; he especially hated a dirty pair of Nikes.

Music really spoke to Chris, a love undoubtedly passed down from his parents. He had an extraordinary ear for music and could often identify a song’s title, artist, and even the year it was released within moments of hearing it. His playlists reflected his wide appreciation for music, with a particular love for classic rock and old records. Many evenings were spent playing cards or dominoes while taking in the sounds of the classics.

Chris also shared a special bond with his mother; they had a mutual love of music and the beach. Whether it was the sounds of the waves, the warmth of the sun, or simply being near the water, the beach was a place that brought him peace. That same love has been passed on to his daughters, who continue to carry that part of him today.

Chris loved video games and some of Michaela’s fondest childhood memories with her dad were made with a controller in hand, or sometimes no controller at all. She remembers the games that had them dancing around the living room, taking turns playing, competing against one another, and simply laughing together. They may have seemed like ordinary moments at the time, but looking back, they became some of the special memories that Michaela now holds close to their heart.

Chris will be remembered for his quick wit, sharp mind, love of music, and the unique qualities that made him unmistakably himself. Truly a beautiful individual. While he will be deeply missed, the memories he created will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.
