Obituary

Mr. Dan D. Marrs, age 85, of West Memphis, Arkansas passed away on Sunday January 28, 2024, at his home in West Memphis, Arkansas.  Born December 11, 1938, in California, he was the son of Daniel Marrs and Eden Martin Marrs. He worked 20 years up until retirement with The Arkansas Hwy Department. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and NRA.

Mr. Marrs went into the army at 18 and served his time for our country. He worked at a high-end restaurant in California that he spoke about often, a Chemical Plant, then he went to work for CDC where he met Helen, and they got married in 1964. In 1971 Dan & Helen moved to Arkansas. In 1973 they bought a farm in Colt, Arkansas. Dan Loved farming, they raised cows, chickens, rabbits, goats, pigs, and every animal you could think of. He was especially good with rabbits, and he won so many trophies that he couldn't put them all out and had to put some in the closet and give some away. He also raised a huge garden.

In 2006 Dan & Helen moved to Alpena, Arkansas where they had a farm and continued their country ways. Dan loved to travel. Being in Alpena had them close to Branson, Missouri and they would go all the time to watch shows there.

In 2016 due to health reasons, they moved to West Memphis, Arkansas to be near family.

Mr. Marrs is preceded in death by his parents, one son Bill Marrs, one daughter Barbara Clark, two grandsons Raymond Jones and Jamie Clark.

Mr. Marrs is survived by his wife of 59 years Helen Marrs of West Memphis, Arkansas; one son-in-law Rocky Clark of West Memphis, Arkansas; two grandsons Jason (Tina) Marrs of Searcy, Arkansas, and Jeremy Marrs of Wynne, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Kelli (Jimmy) Kovach of Marion, Arkansas, and Amanda (Kyle) Steinbarger of Forrest City, Arkansas; two sisters Barbara Smith of California, and Patricia "Patty" Black of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service for Mr. Marrs will be February 02, 2024, at 2:00 pm and a visitation one hour prior at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Dillon Anderson will be officiating. The burial will be at Barnishaw Cemetery in Pine Tree, Arkansas.
