Mrs. Doris Thornton Melton, age 81, of Cabot, Arkansas passed away on Thursday July 25, 2024, at Spring Creek Health and Rehab in Cabot, Arkansas. Born November 10, 1942, in St. Francis County, she was the daughter of Clifton Thornton and Maureen Miller Thornton. Mrs. Melton was a housewife and was Baptist. Mrs. Melton loved puzzles, card games and other games. She loved roses, old movies especially western's.

Mrs. Melton is preceded in death by; her parents, her husband J.D. Melton two sons John David Melton and Johnny Doyle Melton, four sister Margie Thornton Alford, Mary Thornton Tuck, Linda Dianne Thornton, and Peggy Jo Thornton, and three brothers David Thornton, James Leo Thornton, and John Thomas Billingsley, one sister-in-law Brenda Thornton and one brother-in-law Andrew "Bud" Hastings.

Mrs. Melton is survived by her two brothers Richard Thornton of Wynne, Arkansas, John Clifton (Jacky) of Texas; five sisters, Betty Thornton of Forrest City, Arkansas, Martha Alice Hastings of Forrest City, Arkansas, Barbara (Arthur Trevino of Colt, Arkansas, Dorothy Thornton Corbett of Forrest City, Arkansas, and Jackie Thornton Billingsley of Cabot, Arkansas; Host of Niece's and Nephew's.

A Visitation for Mrs. Melton will be Monday July 29, 2024, at 9:00 am at Morgan Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City, Arkansas. Bro. Dennis Colvin will be officiating.
