Mr. George "Buck" Thurmond, Jr., age 78, died at his home February 4, 2016 after a long illness. Born February 22,1937, he was the son of George Thurmond and Ruth Nesbitt Thurmond. He was a member of the Church of God. He worked as a contractor of steel buildings and as a sawmill operator.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of the home; one son Doug (& wife Lisa) of Rosebud, AR; one sister Christine Irby of Oregon and one grandson Michael.

Graveside services were held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Salem Cemetery near Palestine, AR with Bro. Billy Merritt officiating.
