James Roy "Handsome Jimmy" Catha, aged 70, of Forrest City, passed away unexpectedly at home after a short illness on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Jimmy was born on May 4, 1955, in Hughes, AR, to Leroy and Thelma Wheat Catha, and spent most of his youth in Widener, AR. Jimmy was an avid fisherman who loved gardening and sharing his bounty with friends and family. He was also a proud volunteer firefighter for the Newcastle Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, along with two brothers, Steve Schuster & Ronnie Heath.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Terry Catha of the home; daughters Beverly (Joey) Luper of Garfield, AR, Jamie (Shawn) Rogers of Pea Ridge, AR, Nicole Catha (fiancé Tommy Ramey) of Colt, and a "son in love", Brandon (Debbie) Burroughs of Forrest City. He was lovingly known as "Papaw Jimmy" to 10 grandchildren, Cheyenne (Albert) Hackler, PJ (Paige) Luper, Ryleigh Luper, Ethan (Reagan) Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Jase Rogers, Carson Glass, Rosemary Glass, Harley Glass, Hudson Ramey, and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Selita (Tom) Baker of Cherry Valley, AR, a brother, Tom McCathron (Liz) of Michigan, and countless nieces, nephews & cherished friends.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Morgan Funeral Home in Forrest City, with a Celebration of Life service following at 2:00 PM, with Brother Kendall Pettus officiating.
