Mr. James Vernon Mathews passed away at his home on Thursday June 16, 2022.

He was born Oct.23, 1949, in Forrest City, the son of Terrell Vernon Mathews and Zella Lee Clark Mathews. James was a lifetime resident of Palestine, Arkansas. He worked at AT&T as a Splicer until his retirement.

James was preceded in death by both of his parents and one grandson Garrett Parson.

James is survived by his wife Frances Mathews of the home in Palestine, Arkansas; three daughters Tammy (Ed) Jackson of Forrest City, Arkansas, Kelly (Greg) Parson of Palestine, Arkansas, and Tracy (Jim) Bailey of Titusville, Florida; one brother Terry Mathews of Palestine, Arkansas; two sisters Pauline (Ricky) Ray  of Alabama and Jane Hartley of Palestine, Arkansas; four grandchildren Hannah Jackson, Jake Lawson, James Parson, and Mathew Parson.

Mr. Mathews Funeral service will be Monday June 20, 2022, at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm and visitation will be one hour prior to service at 2:00 pm with Jamie McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Mars Hill Cemetery in Palestine, Arkansas.
