Mr. James Leo Thornton, age 57, of Colt, AR, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, after a short illness.
Born February 1, 1961, to Clifton Arnold Thornton and Maurine Miller Thornton, he was an Air Force Veteran, member of the Widener Baptist Church, and worked as a medical records clerk and a substitute teacher at Wynne Public Schools. Mr. Thornton was a 1979 graduate of Forrest City High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Peggy Jo Thornton and Mary Tuck and one brother David Thornton.
Survivors include two brothers Richard (Brenda) Thornton of Wynne, AR and John Clifton (Jacky) Thornton of Texas; eight sisters Margie (Bobby) Alford of Marion, Doris Melton of West Memphis, Jackie (John Thomas) Billingsley of Cabot, Diane (Dawn Ferreira) Thornton of Forrest City, Dorothy Thornton of Forrest City, Barbara (Arthur) Trevino of Colt, Alice Hastings of Forrest City, and Betty Thornton of West Memphis, AR. He was also survived by 24 nieces and 18 nephews and a great number of great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Widener Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Phillips and Bro. Gary Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Visitation will be two hours prior to service time beginning at 11:00 AM at Widener Baptist Church.
