Mrs. Janie "Lou" Borden, age 72, of Colt, AR died July 1, 2019 at Cornerstone Hospital in Little Rock after a long illness.
Born February 19, 1947, in Shirley, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Henry Jake Johnson and Arvis Williams Johnson. She was an elementary school teacher in the Forrest City Public School System for twenty-four years before retirement. She was a member of the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church near Colt, where she taught Sunday School and directed the teen choir. She was an avid reader, enjoyed singing gospel songs and was renown for her southern cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter Lisa Ann in 1968.
Survivors include her husband James "Walter" Borden of Colt, one son James "Michael" Borden of Wynne, one daughter Teresa Borden of Colt; one brother Jim Johnson and his wife Karen of Shirley; two sisters Shirley Newman and her husband Mickey of Clinton, and Barbara Bass and her husband Esther of Shirley. She is also survived by two grandchildren Tanner Reese Elliott and Kameron DeAnna Luke.
Funeral services for Mrs. Borden are scheduled for Friday afternoon, July 5, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Morgan Chapel with Bro. J.T. Baskins officiating. Burial will follow at Loughridge Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service at 1:00 PM at Morgan Chapel.
