Ms. Joan Murphy, age 88, of Manila, Arkansas, formerly of Palestine, died early Friday morning, August 7, 2020 at the Manila Nursing Center in Manila, Arkansas after a long illness. Born January 25, 1932, she was the daughter of Harry Lawless and Lilly Jane Duvall Lawless. She lived in Palestine most of her life and was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church. She was a housewife and worked in the bakery department for Food Giant for many years.
Survivors include three sons: John Michael Murphy and his wife Cathryne of Louisville, KY, Carl Phelps and his wife Esther of Maryland, Larry Murphy and his wife Shirley of Florida; four daughters Patricia Darlene Tilley and her husband Timmy of Harrison, AR, Yvonne Hardy and her husband Kent of Jackson, TN, Rebecca Phelps and Linda Patrick of Indiana and Barbara Knowlton of Indiana; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ms. Murphy will be Monday, August 10, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Morgan Chapel with Bro. Justin Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery in Palestine, Arkansas under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Ronnie Beshears, Barrett Beshears, Chris Hardy, Jerry Handly, Bill Swearengin and Honorary Pallbearer is Phillip Hardy.
Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 (Noon) until 2:00 at Morgan Chapel.
