Mrs. Lola Jean Massie, age 84, of Palestine, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at Woodruff County Health Center in McCrory.
Mrs. Massie was born June 7, 1929 in St. Francis County the daughter of Sam Howton and Bertha Jones Howton.
She was a housewife and life-long member of the Mars Hill Church of God.
Mrs. Massie was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; one grandson; one granddaughter; and her husband.
She is survived by four sons, Terry Swiney of Palestine; Donald Swiney and his wife, Gina, of Bradford; Jerry Swiney and his wife, Nancy, of Marianna; and Jimmy Massie and his wife, Jody, of Cabot; two daughters, Dorothy Brittnum and her husband, Wally, of Oakland, TN and Barbara Rye of Memphis, TN; one sister, Connie Howton of Palestine; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Albertson officiating, assisted by Timmy Sparks.
Burial will follow at Salem United Methodist Cemetery in Moro.
