Mrs. Mary C. Davenport, age 75, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 after a long illness. The daughter of Lige Melton and Velva Colvin Melton, she was born February 9, 1939. She was retired from Wal-Mart in Forrest City, Arkansas and was a member of the Oak Hill Church of God.
Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse Lee Davenport, son Franklin Davenport, daughter Valerie Elliott, and four grandchildren: Jeremy, Jeffrey, Jessica and Christeen.
She is survived by six sons: Keith Davenport of Marion, Kendall, Paul, and Joel Davenport of Forrest City, William Davenport of Caldwell, and Jerry Davenport of Greenville, MS; two daughters: Karen Heartfield of Belton, TX and Trena Flowers of Mountain Home, Arkansas; two brothers: Rayburn Melton and Robert Melton of Forrest City and one sister, Gladys Barber of Sullivan, Mississippi; niece Bertha Drennan of Hot Springs, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Davenport has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Morgan Chapel from 6:00pm till 8:00pm. Funeral ceremony will be October 1, 2014 at the Oak Hill Church of God at 2:00pm with Bro. Bill Cooper officiating. Burial to follow at Hughes Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
