Mrs. Mattie Lee Carter, age 79, died Thursday July 18, 2013, at her home in Forrest City.
Mrs. Carter was born April 6, 1934,the daughter of Clifton Nichols and Janie Alice Armstrong Nichols.
She worked at Wal-Mart in Forrest City for over 30 years and also worked for the Forrest City School District in the cafeteria.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the Forrest City Church of God and a former Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by one son, Donald Carter.
Survivors include one son: Michael David Carter of Forrest City; one daughter Mrs. Anita Jane Widby and her husband Richard of Forrest City; two brothers William "Bill" Nichols of Colt and Percy "Buck" Nichols of Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Grace Hale and her husband Charles of Indiana; Mary Louise "Wezi" Webb of Colt, Maxine Montgomery and her husband Arlis of Hot Springs, and Blanche Carter and her husband Archie of Harrison, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, and five great- grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 at Morgan Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carter are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, July 21, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Forrest City Church of God with Bro. Chelch Reagan officiating, assisted by Bro. Robert Newmon, Jr., and Bro. John Headley.
Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
