Obituary

Mr. Thomas M. Johnson, age 86, died Thursday, November 3, 2016, at his home in Palestine, Arkansas. Mr. Johnson was born on October 24, 1930, in Dorsey, Mississippi, and was the son of Thomas and Mirl Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. He moved to Forrest City, Arkansas in 1964 and was employed by Warwick Electronics, Inc. and remained employed there following the plant purchase by Sanyo Manufacturing. He retired from Sanyo after 48 years of employment. Mr. Johnson was a charter member of Ridgecrest Country Club and served for a time as the president of the club. He was an avid golfer and loved to work with the youth baseball program. Mr. Johnson was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doris (Houser) Johnson, along with three sons, Phillip Johnson, of Shannon, MS; Travis Lansford, and wife, Doris, of Palestine, AR, and Jeff Johnson, of Palestine, AR; three sisters, Mary Ruth Majors, of Nettleton, MS; Sarah Shelton and Jimmie Lou Loftin, both of Eggville, MS; seven grandchildren, Beth Young, and husband, Jerry, Cara Lansford, Matt Lansford, and wife Destiny, Mia Anthony, Chandler Anthony, Shelby Anthony, and McCoy Lansford; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, Doug Lansford, a granddaughter, Marla Lansford Clements, and a great-granddaughter, Makenzie Danehower.

Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be Sunday evening, November 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Morgan Funeral Home. Services will be held at Morgan Funeral Home at 2 pm Monday, November 7, 2016, with burial to follow in Bell Cemetery.
