Mrs. Velma Louise Clemons, age 86, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at her home in Marianna, after a long illness.  Born January 26, 1936, she was the daughter of George Courtney and Mary Lee Martin Courtney.  After graduation, she married the love of her life, Edward Lee Clemons, on February 13, 1955.  They celebrated 66 years of marriage together.  Mrs. Clemons worked as a Child Nutrition Coordinator and Manager for the Lee County School District until retirement.   She was of the Pentecostal faith and a founding member of the Marianna Church of God, where she was the church treasurer for many years.  She enjoyed visiting the Senior Citizens Center in Marianna, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Clemons was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Edward "Eddie" Clemons, Jr. (1986); one son-in-law James Hollis (2012); two brothers Richard Courtney and Carroll Courtney; one sister Dorothy White and one step granddaughter Jamie Webb in 2011.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Lee Clemons, of the home; one son George Robert Clemons (& wife Sybil) of Cabot, AR; three daughters: Teresa Clemons of Marianna, AR; Anita Hollis of Batesville, AR; and Diane Holder (& husband David) of Pleasant Plains, AR; five grandchildren: Amanda Stevens (& husband Chris); Blake Holder; April Bledsoe (& husband Jeremy); Jonathan Clemons, and Makenzie Clemons; and three great-grandchildren: Dylan, Kaylea, and Presley.

Visitation was held with the family on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Heirloom Chapel located at 99 W. Main St. in Marianna, AR - from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services were Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1:00pm at Marianna Church of God located at 1340 US-79, Marianna, AR with Reverend Bob Majors officiating.  Burial will be at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City, Arkansas.
